I will dominate 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-bout match which will be broadcast live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Joshua stated he will "dominate completely" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the pair met personally to build hype for the upcoming bout.

Former twice unified title holder Anthony Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami arena on December 19th.

Boxer's Mindset

"I plan to injure his face and damage his physique. My goal is to show I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I intend to really want to injure him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

Despite those words, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - normally recognized for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul rather targeted ex Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian turned down a fight offer.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK rival Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' states he will put on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul outshines Tyson Fury - he's present here," the boxer said.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Fighter

Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he stated.

Paul's History

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed MMA fighters or declining opponents since turning professional.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in last year.

Commercial Attraction

Still, the inexperienced fighter remains one of boxing's greatest commercial attractions, regularly earning substantial financial rewards.

Prediction and Belief

The 28-year-old predicted a KO victory in round four or five and asserted he would prevent the highly-expected Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly being planned for 2026.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul declared.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul participated in the usual face-off, with their size difference on show, it highlighted just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is actually happening.
